The Kansas Outfitters Association was formed in 1994 by a group of concerned outfitters from the state of Kansas. The group was formed to create an authoritative voice in the state for legislative issues which affect the livelihood of Kansas outfitters. The KOA has an in house lobbyist.

Each year we help sponsor a luncheon at the state capitol for Kansas State Representatives and Senators. We have been instrumental in changing wildlife laws such as lowering youth hunting ages for archery, rifle and muzzleloader. We supported all youth days for hunting and fishing. We campaigned for increased non-resident permits for deer hunting, thus boosting the economy for rural Kansas towns and landowners. We also initiated the Purple Paint law to help law enforcement with issues in Kansas.
